You Know You’re Parent When

You Know you're a parent when

You Know You’re Parent When

Hi everyone! I’m really trying to get busy writing but at the end of the day I’m just exhausted.  I’m sure all of you can relate.

I’m not gonna lie, TV is a big time waster of mine. Although I’m usually doing something else while watching the TRILLION shows and movies I record.

Some days I have super productive days where I’m just checking off everything on my list and some I’m just barely getting by which just means we ate and showered. Everything else is left the way it is.

The other day while I was showering, and let me add I only shower alone on Sundays.  I always get ideas to write while showering. Isn’t that were all the best ideas come from anyways? Well, it hit me when I did the first thing that I’m listing below, and You know you’re a parent when started::

You Know You’re Parent When

♥ You’re not sure a baby product is tear free, so naturally you’ll apply it to your eyes to double-check. Yep. Not tear free.  OUCH! I looked all over the label, and I didn’t see TEAR FREE anywhere. Only a parent would inflict pain on ourselves.  My eyes burned but I laughed about it and baby was safe from that! WIN-WIN.. well sorta.

You Know you're a parent when

♥ The most important thing EVER is sleep. Sleep for your child, sleep for you, please everyone go sleep.

♥ Eating, showering, using the toilet alone, conversations (with other people, not yourself) are a rare commodity and you will trade just about anything to get those done.

♥ You do EVERY SINGLE THING in a hurry. Honestly, this is so so tiring. I wish I could just sit down with a cup of coffee sometimes and just do absolutely nothing.  But that darn TO-DO list just keeps calling me… Hey you sitting comfortably with your feet up… there are dishes to wash, floors to mop, laundry to wash, fold and put away, dinner to plan and make. You get it. You’re there too.

♥ You are without a doubt in love with this little person.  When Nico comes out of the bedroom after napping, with his hair all over the place talking gibberish. My heart melts, it is truly one of the most single best moments of my life. I just want to bite him all over.

♥ Locking yourself in a closet for a few minutes when your kid is annoying the crap out of you after you have offered them everything but your brains and they are just not happy.  They want all of your attention and the laundry pile needs to be put away. You give up. Get in the closet, put the kid somewhere safe and take a breath. Compose yourself, leave the laundry and go play.

They are only little once. There will always be laundry, dishes, lists and errands.  This is what we have to focus on.

Spend as much time as possible with them, loving them, caring for them and preparing them for their own lists and errands.  Now it’s our time to cherish every single day with them.

Being a mother is the hardest thing I have ever done but it has been so rewarding.  Only a parent would understand this.  It really isn’t something you can explain.

I can go on and on but I really do have dishes waiting for me and I’m sure you guys have some funny stories about parenting, I would love to hear about them.

Let me know in the comments below when you figured out you were a parent.

Love this list! I totally agree with the sleep thing. It's all we talk about bc my son –15 months– is such a terrible sleeper. And I too long for days when I could just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. Those days are few and far between now!

Great list. I do EVERYTHING in a hurry. My husband has to tell me to slow down.

So true! I mean…I just ate a soggy, half eaten donut from my 2 year old because I didn't get to each lunch and I really don't feel like starting dinner….LOL!

Thanks Tricia. Glad you enjoyed it. I did write this in a hurry or else the list would have been a lot bigger! But we try.

LOL. Hey, we eat what we can. I ate my son's smashed up food before I put him to bed. I knew it was gonna take a little while till I had dinner so why not? If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.

Glad you liked it. and yep! We wander the internet and instagram feed when we could be getting things done so we hurry less. Go figure!

Great post. And so true! Especially always doing things in a hurry. And then when it's time to slow down and put your feet up (on those rare occasions) you have no idea what to do with yourself haha.

A wonderful post! Such good but exhausting work. For me, it's when we get away on our own and immediately I wonder what our daughter is doing. Or I look around the place where my husband and me are dining or staying or whatever and think how much she'd enjoy it.

Love this! Except for the fact that my kids don't like to sleep until they are at least 3 or 4 years old. 😉

love this, so true, especially when you get the day to yourself so you sit down to finally put your feet up and its like it was the quickest day ever.

This is awesome and oh so true!!!! I don't think men will ever get just how busy we are!!! I think it's hard for most women to just sit down and do nothing (aka relax!) when we know there is so much waiting to be done!
I love your point when you see your son with his hair all messy after his nap… I know that feeling… my son is only 8 months and often naps in his stroller… when I hear him awake, with his red little cheeks and messy hair, I just want to bite him all over!! (and normally start with his feet!! haha)
    Fun times.
    All the best 🙂

Have been diving into tutorials online, art specifically drawing fundamentals, signed up for a couple of domestika courses and acquired some professional supplies to begin. (I really mostly used my kids watercolor pallets before 😅)
Excited to see if I can actually learn all of the basics and become a “real” 👩🏻‍🎨
