As a work-at-home mom, my time for specific tasks is very limited. I started this blog when my son was just a couple of months old and with time have learned a few tricks for being productive when working from home.

Juggling home and work life is difficult but not impossible.

Designate a workspace

Defining a workspace is imperative for productive work at home situation. You must know where you’ll be working.

This space could be a nook, a room, a patio, front porch. Make the space your own.

Although you may be able to do some work from bed (we all wish that) it’s not the most comfortable or effective in the long run.

Best to invest in a nice desk and comfortable chair, you might also want to acquire noise-canceling headphones if you’ll be working in an open space area.

Build a Work Schedule That Works For You

I’m neither a morning nor night person, instead, I’m an afternoon person. I break up my work schedule with morning and afternoon routines.

For me that means, I can get up and get “home” things done, make breakfast for my family, and take care of any necessary errands.

Once I get some things out of the way, I’ll sit down at my desk and get some work done.

Break for lunch and attend to home things.

Have a To-do List

Ever since I started using a bullet journal, writing lists has been a part of my every day.

Checking things off my list is also a great encouragement for me.

Write down all you need to get done for the day and tackle it in order of urgency.

Schedule Your Breaks

As I mentioned above, having a home and family to take care of while working is something I have to account for when scheduling my work hours.

Having small breaks helps me feel energized when returning to work.

Having your office space free of clutter will help you focus better on the tasks at hand.

Set Timers for Designated Tasks

Give yourself a limit for how long a task should take, set your timer and execute the task within the allotted time or move to another task. You can return to unfinished tasks at another time.
