Family-Friendly Orlando Getaway: Where To Stay

family-friendly vacations in orlando

This post is sponsored by Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. All opinions are my own.

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Orlando Resort Review

We enjoy traveling to Orlando often, since it’s only a few hours away Orlando getaways are pretty normal around here; not that it makes them any less special.

I’ve called Orlando home in my late teens, so it holds a special place in my heart. I would so live there again!! Such a fun city.

This time around I went with my mother-in-law, 2-year-old son and 4-year-old niece. We luckily got a great family-friendly hotel inside the Disney Springs Resort Area.

For our family-friendly getaway we chose the super family-friendly  Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel

The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel is an official Disney World Resort and a short walk from the Disney Springs.

We arrived past check-in (4:00 pm), checking in took about 10-15 minutes since there was a quite a bit of people in line but since the kids were in the car it didn’t feel like 30+ minutes. (Everything with kids in tow takes longer)

The lobby is huge, beautifully decorated and accommodating with several “living room” type settings for a very cozy and open atmosphere. They’ve recently had an extensive renovation.

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel Accommodations:

There are two great options at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel, The Garden & Tower Rooms.

We stayed at the Garden which offers a more affordable option. Our room faced the beautifully manicured courtyard and Oasis Aquatic Pool Area.

The Garden room we stayed in was traditionally decorated and somewhat dark for my taste but our beds were very comfortable, room was nice and tidy before two children did what they do best, make a mess.

We didn’t stay inside our rooms for very long, so it really made no difference.

Shopping:

An on-site Disney Store where you can buy all things Disney, MagicBands, Souvenirs and Walt Disney Park Tickets for your Orlando vacation.

Dining Options at the Hotel:

In the lobby area you’ll find the Eclipse Lounge for drinks & winding down, the Sundial 24-7 mini market a great option for breakfast, late night snacks or to pick up a chilled bottle of wine.

Located by the Disney is also a Domino’s Pizza Kiosk where you can order your pizza and have it delivered to your room!

The Oasis Bar & Grill located in the pool area for a casual outdoor lunch or dinner option

Lakeview Restaurant, open for breakfast & dinner was the highlight of our stay. Goofy & Pluto come for a visit every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday for a special Disney Character breakfast buffet you’ll won’t want to miss.

Disney Character Breakfast

Food is delicious including Mickey waffles, omelette station and other hot & cold foods.

Fun & Fitness:

The Oasis Aquatic Pool Area features a rock waterfall, an pool playground, hot tub and Bar & grill.

Although I was told the zero entry pool is heated, the short time we took the kids to play a little showed otherwise. We quickly left because the kids were too cold.

There are lots of outdoor space & activities, with lighted tennis courts, basketball court & sand volleyball (visit the Oasis Bar & Grill for equipment pick up), if indoor activities are more your thing you can visit the arcade/game room located on the parking level.

For younger children, there is a designated reading nook with TV and tiny sofas to keep the little ones entertained. The resort also has a DIRECTOR OF FUN which can offer assistance with choosing activities to entertain any child.

The hotel Fitness Center is located in the back of the lobby by the children’s area.

Business & Transportation:

The business center is located near the Disney Store, with two computers and printer available.

Parking is $12 plus tax per day. Guests may choose between self-parking or the convenience of valet parking. The cost is the same, aside from tipping the valet drivers.

Shuttle Service to and from all four Disney World Resort Parks and other locations with reservations, you can see guest services for details and schedules. (Included in Resort Fee)

There you have it! Overall it was a great visit and I whole heartily recommend you book them for your next family-friendly getaway in Orlando.

The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel is an excellent option for the budget minded traveler with lots of activities and amenities for the entire family. We will definitely stay again.

So what do you think? Will you pay the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista a Visit? You can go to their website here to see their current rates, specials & reserve your next family-friendly getaway!

Thanks for reading and Happy & Safe Travels!

We had a wonderful time, the character breakfast was fun & delicious. It’s nice to have a breakfast buffet within the Hotel, makes for an easy morning before heading to the theme parks. Thanks for your comment!

Looks great! We hope to go to Disney in 2017 or 2018! We’ll definitely add this to the list of places to check out!

Jill, the kids will love the pool. The walking distance alone to Disney Springs is worth it. There are lots of restaurants, shops & things to do there if you haven’t been. I’ll be writing a post about all the new installations and renovation that recently happened and that’s still happening there. It looks awesome!

I stayed here in 2014 for my daughter’s first birthday trip to Florida. I love how close it is to Disney Springs.
