4 Simple Ways You Can Sleep Better Tonight

Sleeping is a big topic in the Mom World, and it’s always linked to lack of sleep. As mothers we put so much on our plates that sleep becomes a far priority. We complain about how tired we are yet chores & others always come first. Let’s change the way we see sleep.

The benefits of good night’s rest have been more than proven yet lots of people suffer from insomnia, sleepless nights and other sleeping problems. Although some of those issues require extensive treatment, some sleeping problems could be solved  making small adjustments to your nighttime routine.

“Sleep and metabolism are controlled by the same sectors of the brain, When you are sleepy, certain hormones go up in your blood, and those same hormones drive appetite.“

I don’t know about you but that is reason enough to get to bed.

  1. Set a Bedtime.

    A lot of people struggle with this, I too once was all over the place with my sleeping schedule. My bedtime is set for 10:30 PM, with an early riser for a son I need all the sleep I can get to be a functioning parent in the morning.  The nighttime sleep recommendation for adults is 7-9 hours.

  2. Turn Off Your Screens.

    This one is also a culprit for many sleepless nights, we don’t allow our brain to shut off and rest. Televisions, cellphones, tablets and any electronic device with a screen should be off at least 3o minutes before your bedtime. Instead choose a book, meditate or some light stretching to relax your mind.

  3. Use White Noise

    I’m a nightly user of a white noise machine ever since I had my son four years ago we have taken up the habit of using a white noise machine in our bedroom. At first, it was only because we didn’t want to wake our son after he had gone to bed and we were still awake. We’ve always used an app on my phone for white noise and never had to purchase an actual machine.

  4. Natural Sleep Aids

    Sleep aids can be effective for those days where stress, anxiety and troubles of the day just get in the way of your sleep.  I tend to be a bedtime worrier taking into consideration all the to-dos of the day and what’s to come.
