Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award – Get to Know Me

young love mommy blog

I was nominated by fellow mommy blogger Mama by Fire, she has a wonderful blog and shares crafts, reviews, the daily happenings of a family of 4. Check out her blog.

The idea of this award is to spread the blogger love and get to know each other a bit better.

The Rules:

1. Link to the person who nominated you.
2. Add the award logo.
3. Answer the questions your nominator has asked.
4. Nominate a few other blogs and let them know.
5. Ask your nominees 10 questions

Here are Tarynn’s questions for me:

1. How did you come up with the name of your blog?

A few years back I started a blog with a similar name that I never really wrote in. I even had forgotten I had it. When I logged into blogger it showed up and I just simply tweaked the name and added mommy at the end, it was that simple.

2. Post the last picture on your phone.

Cute right? Was out for a walk with the little one and stumbled upon it.

3. What is something people may not know about you?

I write several to-do lists, and sometimes I get so overwhelmed with how much I have to take care of that I end up doing NOTHING. I’m the biggest procrastinator you’ve ever met.

4. What’s your daytime drink? Coffee, tea, energy drink?

In the morning I always have a cup of black coffee but never alone. I have to eat in order to drink.

5. Have you gone to, or are you going to, any blogging conferences this year?

I have not, but who knows? Maybe in the near future. It would sure be fun.

6. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

One year and a couple of weeks, I started as a way to vent/share about the daily happenings of a new mom. Now it’s turned into more of “I want to share valuable information”

7. What is the most valuable blogging advice you have gotten? Bonus-who gave it to you?

Stop focusing on little aspects of your blog, as far as look, logo or anything else and just write. Content is what’s important. I have yet to follow through on this but it’s something I’m striving to accomplish.

8. What is your favorite post and why? (post a link!!)

12 Things I wish I had done Before Giving Birth is my favorite post because it’s so real and it’s things that maybe you’re not thinking about. It really comes from a place of hurt, emotion and guilt for me.

9. Where is your favorite place to visit, in your area, with your family?

I love going to any beach or museum. I like to visit a different place every time, I love new experiences.

10. When do you write most often? Do you have a set schedule everyday?

Most often isn’t something I’m doing right now. I write when I have the time or when I decide that chore will be done another time. I wish I had a set schedule to write.

Now onto my nominations and questions – Participation no required but I hope you all play along!

1. Alana of Healthy Family Simple Budget
2. Meredith of Mommy A to Z Blog

When Your Child is Sick

It’s been a few days since I started writing this post but having a sick child at home is more time consuming than you can imagine.

Can you believe I’ve been blogging for a year now?!? Yes! My “blogiversary” was a few days ago. I was planning on hosting a giveaway to celebrate the occasion but I haven’t had the time lately. I read somewhere that 80% of blogs don’t reach one year. But here I am! Although I don’t blog as often as I’d like (I have over 30 unfinished drafts just sitting in my files waiting to be completed.
There is no worse feeling than seeing your child in pain. If you’ve never had a sick baby in your hands, lucky you! It really is one of the most heartbreaking feelings ever. You feel so helpless. You try and try to console your child with any and everything. And when your actions do nothing to make them feel better, you just feel like a failure.
Right now my kiddo is under the weather and I feel terrible. He’s gotten better but refuses to eat most of what I put out. I’m offering anything I can think of so this kid can eat. And he’s getting very little into his tiny body, which drives me insane!! Please just eat. You need to eat to get better. But he’s one, he has no clue what’s good for him and behind snot filled runny nose there’s a mama in tears praying for little baby to feel better.
When they take a bite of food, you feel so so happy. It’s a relief but it’s disappointing when they don’t. You start off with offering good nutritious things that will benefit his body and you resort to practically giving him paper as long as he eats.
Thankfully he just has a cold but it’s his first cold and second time he’s been sick.  To make things better, he hit his eye on the tub spout the other day and will probably have a scar. We usually co-shower, it saves me from having to shower while he’s sleeping (that’s valuable time) so I didn’t buy one of these spout covers yet but it’s sitting in my amazon shopping cart.
I try to use mostly natural products in my home. I truly didn’t plan on being this way but it just seemed like the right path for my family. I do a lot of homeopathic remedies, use essential oils, and use non-toxic products.  I feel more comfortable knowing exactly what I’m putting into my little one’s body. He’s 14 months old and has been sick twice.  I’m very lucky – Knock on wood. No ear infections, he’s maybe had 2 diaper rashes (when we went full on food, he was pooping a lot! His little tushy didn’t handle it so well but it’s gotten under control).
Than it comes down to, what else is going to happen to this kid? What is he going to suffer through? What I am going to suffer through?
I can picture him scraping his knees badly from falling from his bicycle or breaking an arm or leg somewhere (although I’ve escaped this fate myself, being as hyper as I was it’s a miracle. I hope he’s just as lucky).
But I also think about all the little daily victories to look forward to. There’s so much to look forward to that it makes it easier to deal with the sick times.  But I’m trying my best to boost his immunity to make the sick times disappear. I’m looking into making a bone broth, I hear it has wonderful benefits but I haven’t read up on it fully. Anyone make bone broth in their home? I need some tips on how much to give and how to store it.
I hope all of our little ones are as healthy as can be. If your baby is sick right now I pray they get healing.  I pray for the mama’s of babies with serious illnesses. It breaks my heart to know there are children in so much pain. I hope you hug them tightly and I wish you comfort mama.
And for those little colds? What do you do when your littles are sick? Special probiotics?  Lots of cuddles? Let me know in the comments below.

Vintage Airplane Party – DIY

Vintage Airplane Party

I’m excited to be sharing this special Vintage Airplane Party for my son’s first birthday. I had a hard time deciding on the theme for my son’s first birthday party.

He doesn’t really have any LIKES at this point.  But once I decided on vintage airplanes, it was full speed ahead. I plan on posting a tutorial or two for a few things from the party. Continue reading “Vintage Airplane Party – DIY”

Should I Have More Children? and What’s the Best Age Gap Between Siblings?

Best age gap between siblings

Deciding on having more children is up to each individual family and planning the Age Gap between siblings is an important part of it, depending very much on your particular family dynamic.

Inquiring minds want to know, is there a second baby being planned? Hold up! Was the first one even planned? LOL .  (If you are my mom or dad reading this, stop now and read something else! I know what your answer is!)

I’m a total chicken and I don’t think I’ll ever plan for a child. IF (very huge IF) my husband I decide on another you can believe it’s the second coming.  Okay, just kidding!! but exaggerations aside, I’ve been feeling a little bit of unnecessary pressure. Not put on by anyone but myself. A couple of my friends that were pregnant around the time I was are either pregnant again or working on it.
