Birthday Party In Style With Jord Watches

I grew up in a family that loves birthday parties. Ever since my first birthday, Snow White themed. My father and I share the same birthday month and since we live a few hours away from each other we mom decided on planning a a joint party.  We had my mom, dad, brother and SIL drive down from Jacksonville and the peeps from south Florida come up.

We had a FULL house, a change of pace from our empty home since moving away from everyone. Nonetheless we had a great birthday party, the kids played until they couldn’t anymore and our bellies were inundated with such delicious food thanks to my awesome mother.

Since it was my father’s 60th birthday we chose to showcase our ages as the party theme and I’m not ashamed of getting older so I was a trooper. I’m obsessed with all things Rose Gold at the moment so obviously it was the color I chose for my side of the party. My father went with a traditional “man color” of blue. (That’s my grandma praying over us, and we’re taking photos… we eventually bowed our heads I promise)33 birthdayparty

To add to the festivities I got to showcase a lovely Rose Gold wooden from watch from Jord Watches.

I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity of owning a real wood watch. I tend to buy wooden toys for Nico and furniture for the house but never anything for me. When I was approached by Jord Watches to review one of their wooden watches, I immediately looked over all of their watches and of course asked for the Rose Gold one.

  • Sapphire Crystal Glass
  • Swarovski Crystal Markers
  • Very light on the wrist
  • Elegant
  • Dress it up or Down

How to Entertain a Child for 30 Minutes

Being a stay at home mom has it’s perks, you don’t have to get dressed up, brush your hair or even brush your teeth if you don’t feel like it (although it’s highly recommended). You learn some tricks along the way in order to entertain your child to get certain things done (blogging, cleaning, calling your cable company) but doing those thing sometimes requires some silence of sorts. And if you have kids calling you every single minute while you are trying to do the aforementioned tasks, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!

I’m sharing several ideas on how to entertain you children for 30 minutes.

Okay, you can say.. That’s not a long time. Yea.. it’s not BUT and that’s a big BUT we are crafty ladies and we get things done when we don’t even have that. I’m going to share 4 items that have helped me entertain my child and I hope it helps you get some time to get whatever you need done, even if it’s a nap.

Outdoor entertainment

#1 – WATER PLAY

This is a winner at my house! It doesn’t require any fancy toy although sometimes it helps but if you have a hose and are willing to waste some water for your sanity and work to flow, then mama turn on that hose. (Make sure you don’t turn it up too strongly and it’s on the mist feature) This entertains my little guy (granted he’ll be 2.5 in a couple months) but it works wonders and he is also burning up some energy for later when it’s bedtime. WIN-WIN. Am I right or am I right? Buckets also work wonders. We also have one of those water play tables where you can put sand or whatever on one side and water in the other side. I have never used sand and just put water on both sides. He doesn’t know what it’s supposed to be. 🙂

#2 – WATERCOLORS/PAINTING/DRAWING

This could be done inside too but could potentially lead to screaming on my part. I prefer it being an outside play with my toddler. He tends to get messy and mess stays outside, unless he’s sitting right next to me. I have a large spiral bound sketchpad from a previously failed attempt at drawing, which now has purpose “his fabulous masterpieces” for his mother. We use these to color at my house, which you can find a full on review on this blog. I highly recommend them.

indoor entertainment- Great for those rainy days

#3 – PLAYDOH

Oh goodness. I took a while to introduce water play tables to my son and I have no clue why, maybe I thought he would eat it I suppose. But goodness. He can sit still on his little ikea table (that’s the only place I allow him to play with it. Don’t judge me, I don’t want too much of a mess). The table is in his room but I bring it out to the middle of our living room when I have a deadline or just need him to be entertained while I get some cleaning done. This one is also great for those rainy days, which as I write is happening right now. But he’s napping so we’ll use water play tables later cause I still have a lot of to do!

#4 – TV/IPAD

This one is not my favorite, and I held off on him watching TV for the longest time. But once he sees me bring out the water play tables, he is elated! I think that is his favorite thing outside of chocolate (he’ll do anything for chocolate, but don’t we all? HAHA) I think my son thinks he’s been rewarded when I hand him the iPad. He also loves to watch Cars and just recently got hooked on watching Jonah (VeggieTales) on amazon video.

Here’s wishing you a good luck mom or dad on entertaining your sweet angels! If you have some more ways to entertain your child please do so in the comments below! We very much need ideas.

Starting a Life in a New City & Friendships

Hey Lovelies ♥ Ahhh New City Smell…

Starting a life in a new city is hard.. it’s an adventure, it’s exciting to see what growth will happen next. Finding new friendships as an adult extremely hard!  If you haven’t experienced it… you’re one of the lucky few. I believe it can be done. If you’ve been following along, you would know I have moved to a new city in Port Saint Lucie, in a cute little town called Tradition.

When we first drove around here I was seriously impressed at the aesthetics of the place. It was like a scene from a movie of those little towns where everyone knew their neighbors. Think of Gilmore girls 🙂 New city

This new city truly is gorgeous and inviting, but what if I’m not?

Gorgeous I am (LOL) but inviting? I’m not so sure. Granted I’ve been mostly cooped up either blogging, cleaning or organizing something in the new house.

I try to take my son to the playground as often as I can, as long as I can un-glue from the computer or vacuum (gosh, this kid makes such a mess). I’ve made some progressive conversations with fellow playground moms, gotten a couple of numbers but I’ve never followed up on them. I mean, I don’t want to sound desperate for friendship (although I really am, and if you are one of those moms I met at the playground… I’m sorry.. give me a call, maybe?)

I’m so excited to build a life here, where my son can grow up with his friends. It’s a quiet town, with beautiful landscapes and nice people. I moved around  a few times and missed out on certain life-long friendships that I see a lot of people have. The first huge move was at age 11 when I moved from Brazil to the US. Florida was pretty similar to my hometown of Rio but soon after high school graduation my family moved to Orlando, after a short year we moved to Atlanta, Georgia.

I moved back to South Florida shortly before I got married in 2008. I seem to be leaving a lot of people & places behind and I just miss a sense of community. Something I hope will grow very soon here in Tradition.New city Life In tradition Port Saint Lucie

I’ve been trying to be more open to friendships but it seems as people can smell desperation in me? I truly know zero people here. Other than the neighbors we’ve casually introduced ourselves to and the occasional playground chatter. It gets lonely but I’ve been adding more things to my social calendar to get myself out there. I have yet to join a church and the one I’m interested in joining is opening it’s official doors in July! So very soon.

In the meantime, scouring a new city for new friendships is in full effect. I hope to meet some awesome ladies for play-dates, wine and some book reading. If you’re in the Port Saint Lucie area… send me an e-mail. I’d love to get together… desperation and all.
